The name TOPIARY<\/strong>\u00a0comes from Roman times.<\/h6><\/blockquote>

\"Topiarus<\/strong>\" was in fact the term used by Plinius (62-113 AD) to designate his gardeners. The art of topiary, the mastery of modelling plant structures, was already practised in the first century AD.<\/strong> Plinius's gardeners were Egyptian and Syrian slaves. They were already carving boxwood clumps bearing their master's initials. The Romans also produced wild animals and mythological figures. The decline of the Roman Empire marked the end of topiary art. It wasn't until the Renaissance that topiary rose from the ashes.<\/p>

Contrary to popular belief, Buxus sempervirens are not the only plant species used for topiary. Many other plants can be adapted to this type of cultivation: yew, laurel, charcoal, holly, cypress, taxus, etc.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\" Topiarius \" <\/h2>

L'art topiaire, \u00e9galement appel\u00e9 art de la sculpture v\u00e9g\u00e9tale ou art des jardins g\u00e9om\u00e9triques, consiste \u00e0 tailler les arbustes, les haies et les arbres en des formes g\u00e9om\u00e9triques pr\u00e9cises ou en des sculptures repr\u00e9sentant des objets, des animaux ou des personnages. Cette technique de taille de plantes est souvent utilis\u00e9e pour cr\u00e9er des motifs ornementaux dans les jardins, les parcs et les espaces verts.

L'art topiaire peut \u00eatre pratiqu\u00e9 \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9chelles, allant de petits arbustes taill\u00e9s dans des pots jusqu'\u00e0 de grandes haies sculpt\u00e9es dans des parcs et des jardins publics. Les plantes les plus couramment utilis\u00e9es pour l'art topiaire sont les buis, les ifs, les cypr\u00e8s, les \u00e9rables japonais et les houx.

L'art topiaire est une forme d'art ancienne, qui remonte \u00e0 l'\u00e9poque romaine. Elle est souvent associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la culture europ\u00e9enne, mais elle est pratiqu\u00e9e dans le monde entier.
